1912 – 1914 Georgi Brussilow – Nordostpassage

Beschreibung:
1912 leitete Brussilow eine eigene Polarexpedition, welche die Entdeckung der Nordostpassage zum Ziel hatte. Auf dem Schoner St. Anna erreichte er Mitte September die Karasee durch die Jugorstraße. Westlich der Jamal-Halbinsel wurde die St. Anna jedoch von Eis eingeschlossen und driftete in den Norden. Da sich bis zum Frühjahr 1914 keine Besserung ergab, entschied ein Teil von Brussilows Crew, das Schiff zu verlassen, um zu versuchen zu Fuß über das gefrorene Eis in den Süden und die Zivilisation zurückzukehren. Zwei dieser Männer, der Navigator Albanov und der Matrose Konrad, wurden 1914 von Mitgliedern einer anderen Polarexpedition, die Georgi Jakowlewitsch Sedow angeführt hatte, gefunden und mit dem Schiff St. Foka gerettet. Die beiden waren die einzigen Überlebenden der Brussilow-Expedition.
Anmerkung:
Nach fast 100 Jahren im ewigen Eis der Arktis sind 2010 die Spuren einer russischen Polarexpedition gefunden worden. Russischen Forschern zufolge handelt es sich bei den nahe der Inselgruppe Franz-Josef-Land im Nordpolarmeer gefundenen Menschenknochen und Schiffstagebuch-Seiten um Spuren der verschollenen Expeditionsgruppe von Georgi Brussilow.
