Finanzierung: Die Station wurde finanziert durch Johann Nepomuk Graf Wilczek, der die Station 1918 Dänemark schenkt.

  • 2.4. – Schiff „Pola“ (gestellt von der öst. Marine) verlässt den Hafen Pola (1)(2)
  • 6. – 20.6. – Aufenthalt in Tromsø wegen Schlechtwetter
  • 13.7. – Ankern vor der Insel Jan Mayen
  • 14.7. – Beginn der Ausschiffung von 200 Tonnen Ausrüstung und Material und Errichtung der Station (vorgefertigt von der öst. Marine in Pola) am Südabhang des Vogelberges in der Maria Musch Bucht.
  • 1.Aug. – Beobachtungsbeginn
  • 16.8. – die „Pola“ fährt ab

1) gehörte damals zu ⇒Italien, Heute gehört Pola zu ⇒ Kroatien und heißt: Pula

2) In der 1867 begründeten Doppelmonarchie Österreich-Ungarn war Pola, wie die Stadt damals genannt wurde, Hauptkriegshafen der Marine. Pola wurde als Festung ersten Ranges bezeichnet; auf den Hügeln über der Stadt befanden sich 28 Forts, teilweise mit Panzertürmen. Zwischen der Insel Brioni und dem Festland befand sich der Außenhafen; der eigentliche Hafen war 8,6 km² groß, teils Handels-, teils Kriegshafen. Die Marinesektion des k.u.k. Kriegsministeriums betrieb in Pola von Trocken- und Schwimmdocks über die Marineakademie, das Hydrographische Amt, ein Artillerielaboratorium und ein Pulvermagazin bis zum Arsenal (mit 2000 Arbeitern) sämtliche für den Seekrieg wichtigen Einrichtungen.
